MUSIC AND PHYSICAL EDUCATION

At Kathmandu Shikshalaya, students will engage in a comprehensive music education through Elementary Music. This program introduces them to fundamental concepts like rhythm, melody, harmony, various instruments, and diverse musical styles. Activities such as group singing, instrument creation, playing instruments, marching, and more are incorporated. The curriculum offers numerous opportunities for both solo and group performances. Commencing in Grade 1, Elementary Music serves as the stepping stone, laying the groundwork for the exploration of specific instruments in middle school.

Simultaneously, physical education plays a crucial role in nurturing a positive self-image by elevating fitness levels and enhancing skills and sportsmanship. Students are guided to safely and proficiently participate in a range of sports, including football, volleyball, basketball, and badminton. Emphasizing fair play and teamwork, the program not only equips students with basic game skills but also provides avenues for representing the school in inter-school games and tournaments. Together, these educational components contribute to the holistic development of students, fostering both artistic and physical prowess.

ASSESSMENT AND ACHIEVEMENT
At Kathmandu Shikshalaya, assessment and achievement are integral components of our educational philosophy from the playgroup to the secondary level. We employ a comprehensive approach to evaluate each student’s progress, utilizing diverse assessment techniques such as continuous observation, testing for knowledge and skills, analysis of portfolios, and assessment of projects and practical work. Beyond academic achievements, we prioritize attitude, learning skills, social relationships, and overall effort in shaping a holistic view of a student’s development. Detailed descriptive reports are provided to parents three times a year, offering a transparent and thorough understanding of their child’s academic and social progress. Additionally, regular parent-teacher conferences are conducted to facilitate open communication and collaboration between educators and parents, ensuring a supportive partnership in each student’s educational journey. This approach ensures that assessment not only gauges academic proficiency but also fosters the well-rounded growth and development of students in our progressive learning environment.
